1. Confirm the current GAF Residential Contractor Program tier structure directly on gaf.com or in GAF's published Residential Program Guidelines before quoting tier names, since program tiers and requirements are updated periodically.
2. Identify the four tiers in ascending order: GAF Certified, GAF Certified Plus, GAF Master Elite, and President's Club (an additional recognition layer within Master Elite for top-performing contractors).
3. Confirm warranty eligibility mapping on gaf.com: GAF Certified contractors can offer the System Plus Limited Warranty; GAF Certified Plus contractors can offer System Plus plus the Silver Pledge Limited Warranty (workmanship coverage); GAF Master Elite contractors can additionally offer the Golden Pledge Limited Warranty (extended workmanship coverage), and President's Club-recognized Master Elite contractors can offer the GAF President's Club Limited Warranty.
4. Gather the documentation GAF verifies for higher tiers — active general liability and workers' comp insurance, required licensing, multi-year installation experience, financial-standing checks, and BBB standing — and complete required factory training for the target tier.
5. Apply/upgrade through GAF's contractor program channel and verify listing at the correct tier in GAF's public contractor locator once approved.
6. Re-verify tier status annually, since GAF requires ongoing re-certification and a contractor's ability to register Silver Pledge or Golden Pledge warranties depends on holding current Certified Plus or Master Elite status at the time of installation.
