Steps
Confirm the door assembly (leaf, frame, and gasketing as a system) was tested and listed together to UL 1784, not just as individually rated components.
Check that gasketing is installed continuously at head, jambs, and meeting stiles (on pairs), since the leakage limit is very difficult to meet without full perimeter gasketing.
Verify documentation that the assembly meets the code-referenced maximum air leakage rate for both the ambient and elevated-temperature test phases.
Confirm the door displays the smoke and draft-control ('S') label where required by the code section governing that wall type.
Coordinate threshold and undercut details with the frame supplier so the finished installation doesn't exceed the gap tolerances assumed in the tested assembly.
Known gotchas
Passing UL 1784 requires the complete assembly, including the specific gasketing products, to have been tested together — substituting a different gasket brand or profile in the field invalidates the listing even if it looks similar.
A door can carry a fire rating without an 'S' smoke label — the two are separate listings, and smoke partitions/barriers specifically require the S-label.
Field-added weatherstripping or door bottoms installed after the fact are not automatically compliant with the tested assembly's air leakage performance, even if they visually close the gap.
