Steps
Download the current StanForD2010 schema release (e.g. v4.1) and SchemaDoc from skogforsk.se/english/projects/stanford/stanford-2010/
Confirm the file is XML conforming to the released .hpr XSD (compressed variants use the .hprz extension)
Parse the XML with any XSD-aware library, validating against the matching schema version rather than assuming a fixed structure
Cross-reference species/stem-code definitions using the national 'spi' instruction files (Swedish/Finnish/Norwegian/Danish variants) referenced by the file
Note that a 'StanForD File REST v1.0' API spec exists on paper but Skogforsk states there are no known market implementations, so real integrations parse the XML files directly rather than calling a live API
Known gotchas
Schema versions (1.0 through 4.1) are not backward compatible; field sets differ release to release
This is a data-exchange standard, not a hosted API, so there is no vendor-neutral endpoint to call
Species/stem coding depends on the national 'spi' instruction file in use, which varies by country
