Steps
Create a new consignment, setting its type (e.g., a supplier stock order, an outlet-to-outlet transfer, or a supplier return)
Add products to the consignment and set ordered quantities
Check consignment contents via the consignment's products sub-resource
Update product quantities on the consignment as the order is adjusted before receiving
Mark products received, partially or fully, so on-hand stock updates accordingly
Subscribe to the consignment receive webhook to get notified when stock is received, rather than polling
Known gotchas
Consignment type determines behavior (transfer vs. supplier order vs. return) — using the wrong type routes inventory changes incorrectly
Partial deliveries are normal for bike shops with backordered parts; the API supports multiple receive events against one consignment, so don't assume one-shot receiving
The consignment receive webhook also fires for stock transfers and stocktakes, not just supplier orders — filter on consignment type in your handler
