Search for a subcontractor firm by name or location to confirm it holds current EPA (or EPA-authorized state/tribal program) lead-safe certification.
Cross-check that the certification covers the jurisdiction where the pre-1978 work will occur, since some states run their own authorized programs instead of the federal one.
If the firm cannot be found or its certification looks expired, contact the National Lead Information Center (1-800-424-LEAD) to verify status before assigning work that disturbs painted surfaces.
