Documented steps Install the global CLI (requires Node.js): `npm install -g localtunnel`. Start a local server on a port, e.g. `python3 -m http.server 8000`. Create the tunnel: `lt --port 8000`. localtunnel prints a unique public URL like https://<random>.loca.lt that proxies to localhost:8000 for as long as the lt process runs. Use the URL to test webhooks, share work, or reach the service from a cloud browser; Ctrl+C stops it. Known gotchas The public subdomain is random and changes on each run; the URL dies when the lt process exits. All localtunnel URLs are HTTPS; there is no username/account required for basic tunnels. Traffic is proxied only to the specified local port while the tunnel is up; the remote service cannot reach the rest of your machine through it.
