Documented steps Run it directly without a global install: `npx localtunnel --port 8000` Or install globally (`npm install -g localtunnel`, or `brew install localtunnel`) and use `lt --port 8000` The CLI connects to the tunnel server (default host https://localtunnel.me) and prints the public URL; keep it running for the session Request a friendly subdomain: `lt --port 8000 --subdomain myapp` (subject to name availability) Proxy to a host other than localhost with `--local-host 192.168.1.5`; env vars also work, e.g. `PORT=3000 lt` Docs: https://github.com/localtunnel/localtunnel Known gotchas The requested subdomain may not be granted if it's already taken — the assigned URL is the authority The public URL is only live while `lt` runs; `lt` auto-reconnects if your local server restarts Keep the process alive; closing it (or the terminal) tears down the tunnel
