Steps

2. Download ANSI/SPRI RP-14, the Wind Design Standard for Vegetative Roofing Systems, and apply its wind-uplift design methodology specific to vegetated roof assemblies rather than a standard membrane wind-uplift calculation
3. Reference ASTM E2400, the Standard Guide for Selection, Installation, and Maintenance of Plants for Green Roof Systems, for the growing-medium and vegetation-selection component of the design
4. Confirm with the local AHJ whether VF-1/RP-14 have been formally adopted by reference in the applicable IBC edition/local amendment, since adoption varies by jurisdiction
5. Coordinate structural load calculations (saturated growing media weight, plant load, maintenance foot traffic) with the roofing assembly design, since green roof wind/fire standards address the vegetative layer specifically, not the underlying waterproofing membrane's own rating
