2. Under the 2023 NEC framework, confirm the two controlled-conductor limits: conductors outside the 1-foot array boundary must be limited to 30 volts within 30 seconds of initiation, and conductors inside the array boundary must be limited to 80 volts within 30 seconds
3. Select a compliance method: module-level power electronics (microinverters or power optimizers) tested and listed as a PV Rapid Shutdown System (PVRSS), or a listed PV Hazard Control System under UL 3741 as an alternative path
4. Verify the specific equipment combination (inverter, RSD transmitter, receiver/MLPE) is listed together as a system, not just independently UL-listed components, since PVRSS listing requires system-level testing
5. Check whether the installation qualifies for the non-enclosed detached structure exception (e.g., certain carports, trellises, or shade structures) under the current NEC cycle before assuming rapid shutdown applies
