Documented steps
Identify the pool TARGET with `mc admin decommission status ALIAS` (lists all pools; TARGET may be a full pool description or a `hash:<hex>` identifier).
Cancel with `mc admin decommission cancel ALIAS TARGET`.
Note the cancelled pool does not return to active; it must still eventually be decommissioned and removed from the deployment.
To resume draining later, run `mc admin decommission start ALIAS TARGET` again against the same pool.
Known gotchas
Cancellation is not reversible back to a fully active pool - plan to complete the decommission eventually.
start/status/cancel are mutually exclusive subcommands; you can only run one at a time against the command.
