Steps
Create or connect a TikTok catalog in Catalog Manager via manual entry, a scheduled data feed, or a supported platform integration (e.g. Shopify)
Ensure every product row includes the required fields (sku_id, title, availability, image_link, price, product_page_url, brand, google_product_category), since a missing required field blocks that item from ad eligibility
Create a product set via the Catalog API if you want to scope which items a given campaign can draw from
Create a campaign with the Product Sales objective and select the catalog-based Video Shopping ad format, referencing the catalog_id/product_set_id in the ad group
Build against Video Shopping ads rather than the older standalone Dynamic Showcase Ads format, since TikTok has folded DSA functionality into Video Shopping ads under Product Sales
Check catalog diagnostics before launch to catch disapproved or missing-field items
Known gotchas
Many guides and older sample code still reference 'Dynamic Showcase Ads' as a distinct standalone product — verify current terminology/format against live TikTok docs before building against a deprecated flow
A single missing required catalog field excludes only that product from serving rather than failing the whole feed upload
Scheduled feed ingestion happens on TikTok's own cadence (commonly daily), so last-minute price/availability changes may not reflect immediately
