Download the current i-Tree Eco desktop application (version 6, per itreetools.org) and review the Eco User's Manual before starting data collection.
Choose the appropriate project type: 'Complete Inventory' for assessing every tree on a defined property (yard, campus, park, cemetery), or 'Sample Inventory' (random plots) for large areas like an entire city or county where a full census isn't practical.
Define the project boundary/study area and configure the local hourly air-pollution and meteorological data sources Eco needs for its ecosystem-service calculations.
Collect field data per tree (species, DBH, condition, location) using i-Tree's mobile data-collection tools or paper field sheets, following the sampling protocol for the chosen project type.
Run the Eco analysis to generate forest-structure and ecosystem-benefit outputs, and export results for reporting.
