Generate forest inventory population estimates (e.g., tree volume, land use, species composition by state or circular area) via the USFS FIADB-API /fullreport endpoint

Steps
Choose an estimate type via EVALIDator's interface or by reading the parameter reference at apps.fs.usda.gov/fiadb-api to identify snum (attribute), wc (evaluation group / state+year code), rselected, and cselected values
For a circular-area estimate, supply lat, lon, and radius (miles) instead of relying solely on state evaluation groups
Submit a GET or POST to https://apps.fs.usda.gov/fiadb-api/fullreport with the required parameters and outputFormat=NJSON for flat, metadata-rich JSON
Use GET /fullreport/parameters/{parameter-name} to look up valid values for classed parameters before building the query
Parse the returned estimates/subtotals/totals arrays plus metadata (including the underlying SQL) for auditability
Known gotchas
The API documentation is explicitly marked 'under construction' by the Forest Service as of this writing — some parameters may be undocumented or change without notice
wc (evaluation group) and snum/rselected/cselected values must come from linked reference tables (EVALID, ATTRIBUTE_NBR/DESCR, LABEL_VAR), not guessed — malformed values silently produce wrong or empty estimates rather than clear errors
This is rural/general FIA data; for city-specific urban tree canopy estimates use the separate Urban FIADB-API endpoint instead
