Locate the dataset's resource ID (qmh3-uvgq) on the NYC Open Data 'DOF Scofftow Case Information' page.
Call the SODA endpoint https://data.cityofnewyork.us/resource/qmh3-uvgq.json to retrieve case-level records.
Use SoQL $where filters on the available case/plate fields to narrow results to a specific vehicle or case.
Treat each row as one ScoffTow case, created when DOF is notified that the Sheriff's Office or a City Marshal has booted or towed a vehicle over parking-judgment nonpayment.
Add an app token plus $limit/$offset paging for larger pulls, following the standard NYC Open Data SODA authentication pattern.
Known gotchas
This dataset tracks vehicles booted/towed specifically for unpaid parking-ticket judgment debt (a Sheriff/Marshal enforcement action) — it is not a general towed-vehicle lookup and won't show tows for ordinary parking violations, accidents, or private-property tows.
Data is described as accurate only 'up to the time of collection,' so a case's status (e.g. pending auction) can be stale by the time it's queried.
