Register as a channel partner in the SiteMinder Developer Portal and review the SiteConnect API specification, which is built on Open Travel Alliance XML standards using SOAP over HTTPS
Implement a rooms and rates configuration endpoint that SiteMinder can call to retrieve your room type and rate plan structure via a synchronous SOAP exchange
Set up an availability and restrictions receiver to accept inbound OTA_HotelAvailNotifRQ pushes from SiteMinder containing inventory counts, stop-sells, and stay restrictions
Accept OTA_HotelRateAmountNotifRQ messages from SiteMinder to receive updated nightly pricing for each room and rate plan combination
Implement a reservations push endpoint to deliver OTA_HotelResNotifRQ messages to SiteMinder in real-time whenever a booking originates on your channel
Respond within 60 seconds with OTA_HotelResNotifRS; responses taking longer are treated as failures and SiteMinder will retry the delivery
Known gotchas
SiteMinder Exchange uses SOAP XML, not REST JSON; partners building REST-only stacks must add an XML SOAP layer or use SiteMinder Exchange for app-level integrations instead
Each reservation must trigger a separate SOAP request-response cycle; batching multiple reservations in a single OTA_HotelResNotifRQ is not supported by the SiteConnect specification
SiteMinder pushes ARI in real time when hoteliers update their channel manager; your endpoint must be highly available because missed pushes are not automatically re-sent without triggering a full re-sync
