Steps
Register at publicapi.ohgo.com/accounts/registration with an email/password to receive your API key.
Send the key in the Authorization header or as a URL query parameter on requests (per publicapi.ohgo.com/docs/api-key).
Call the Weather Sensor Sites endpoint (publicapi.ohgo.com/docs/v1/weather-sensor-sites) to retrieve RWIS observations — air temp, dew point, wind, precipitation type/intensity, visibility, road surface temp, subsurface temp, and road surface condition.
Expect roughly 5-minute observation refresh cycles per ODOT's RWIS network.
Use the Swagger UI (publicapi.ohgo.com/docs/v1/swagger) to test calls interactively before wiring up production code, and check publicapi.ohgo.com/docs/terms-of-use for rate limits/usage terms.
Known gotchas
ODOT positions this data as public-domain and free, but usage is still subject to posted Terms of Use and per-key rate limiting.
The API is Ohio-only — don't expect the same key/endpoint to cover neighboring states' RWIS networks.
