Documented steps

  1. Add your apex domain such as yourdomain.com as a custom domain in Railway
  2. Collect the CNAME value and TXT record Railway provides; both are required for verification
  3. Create the CNAME at your DNS provider, noting that the apex requires CNAME flattening or an ALIAS record
  4. If your provider has no root CNAME support, point your nameservers to Cloudflare so the apex can use a CNAME
  5. Railway auto issues the Let's Encrypt certificate once verification passes
