Steps
Apply for access to Visa Intelligent Commerce (VIC) via the Visa Developer Center; VIC is the umbrella platform covering the Agentic Directory, Agent Score, TAP, and Intelligent Commerce Connect.
Complete the Intelligent Commerce Connect integration using Visa's protocol-agnostic 'on ramp': VIC Connect normalizes inbound agent payment requests arriving via ACP, UCP, MPP, or TAP into a standard authorization format your existing payment stack can process.
Configure your token vault settings in the VIC dashboard; VIC Connect is token vault-agnostic, so existing network tokens, Stripe SPTs, or Mastercard Agentic Tokens all route through without re-tokenization.
Activate the Agentic Directory lookup in your fraud stack so your authorization service can call the Visa Agentic Directory to verify an agent's registration status before settling the transaction.
Use the Agent Score signal (announced at Visa Payments Forum June 2026) in your risk rules to evaluate website/agent readiness scores alongside standard fraud signals.
Known gotchas
Intelligent Commerce Connect was unveiled in April 2026 and is in limited rollout; access is currently prioritized for Visa-certified processors and large enterprise merchants.
Agent Score measures merchant site agentic readiness (whether agents can navigate and complete tasks on the site), not transaction risk directly — treat it as a readiness signal, not a fraud score substitute.
VIC's Large Transaction Model capability (announced June 2026) is a separate feature for high-value agent transactions; it requires additional configuration beyond standard VIC Connect setup.
