Steps
Request an API key from your dedicated Criteria Corp account manager — there is no public self-serve developer signup; access is provisioned manually per account
Have Criteria (or your account manager) configure the assessment/test package on their side and note the associated Event ID (an 11-digit XXX-###-XXXX or 16-digit code) tied to that configuration
Call the invite endpoint provided in your account-manager-issued integration docs with the candidate's info and the Event ID to send the assessment invitation; the candidate receives an email containing a Testing Center URL with the Event ID embedded
Track invitation status as it moves from an 'Invited' state through completion, per the status values your integration exposes
Retrieve candidate results once available, and cross-check against email — Criteria also emails completed results directly to the hiring company as a secondary channel
Known gotchas
Criteria Corp does not publish full public REST API reference documentation; exact endpoint paths and payload fields are shared privately by your account manager, so don't assume specifics without confirming with them first
API key issuance is a manual, account-manager-driven process, so expect onboarding lead time rather than instant self-serve access like some competitors
Most publicly documented Criteria integration patterns are ATS-specific (Greenhouse, Lever, Workable, SmartRecruiters, Teamtailor) — a first-party/direct integration outside those ATS partnerships may need extra scoping with Criteria support
