Steps
Have the creator open the target video in the TikTok app, tap Ad settings, toggle Ad authorization on, and choose an authorization duration (7, 30, 60, or 365 days) to generate a Spark Code.
Call the Identity API's POST /identity/create/ endpoint with identity_type set to AUTH_CODE and the creator-provided code to register the identity under the advertiser account.
Alternatively, apply for authorization manually in Ads Manager under Tools > Creative Library > Spark Ads Posts by pasting the video code, if not automating identity creation.
Reference the resulting identity_id when creating the ad creative via the campaign/ad group/ad creation endpoints so the ad runs as the creator's organic post rather than a branded ad-account post.
Track the authorization's expiration (matching the duration the creator granted), since the Spark Ad stops delivering once the grant lapses unless renewed.
Known gotchas
A Spark Code authorizes boosting a specific video, not a creator account in general — a new code is required per video and expires on the schedule the creator selected.
AUTH_CODE identity is a one-time creator-controlled grant, not an OAuth flow — there's no advertiser-side way to refresh it without the creator generating a new code.
Ads created against an expired or revoked identity fail delivery even if the campaign/ad group otherwise remains active.
