Steps

1. Determine the required ISO 14644-1 cleanliness classification for the space before selecting a flooring system — the classification drives particulate-generation and finish-detailing requirements, not just a generic 'cleanroom flooring' label.
2. Specify a seamless, low-particulate-shedding resinous system (epoxy or polyurethane, self-leveling or troweled) with integral cove base to eliminate dust-trapping seams and crevices.
3. Add ESD/static-dissipative requirements (per the ANSI/ESD S20.20 program and STM97.1/97.2 test methods) only where the cleanroom also handles static-sensitive electronics — cleanliness classification and ESD control are separate requirement sets that both must be addressed in semiconductor/electronics cleanrooms.
4. Confirm chemical resistance to the specific process chemistries used in the space (e.g., process solvents or acids), since a generic 'cleanroom flooring' claim doesn't guarantee resistance to a specific process chemical.
5. Build adequate cure and off-gas time into the schedule before cleanroom particulate/chemical certification testing, since resinous flooring VOC off-gassing can compromise certification testing done too soon after installation.
