Steps

1. Confirm both a WineDirect account and a Sovos ShipCompliant account are active, and review WineDirect's ShipCompliant/Sovos integration documentation (docs.winedirect.com/docs/shipcompliant-1) for current setup steps.
2. Enable the ShipCompliant connection from WineDirect so new orders automatically flow to ShipCompliant rather than requiring manual export/import.
3. Confirm ShipCompliant is configured to run its real-time compliance check (shipping-state legality, volume limits, licensing) and tax determination at the point the order is placed, not after fulfillment.
4. Set up alerting or a review queue for orders that ShipCompliant flags as non-compliant (e.g., shipping to a restricted state or exceeding a consumer volume limit) so they don't ship automatically.
5. Periodically reconcile order counts and tax remittance figures between WineDirect and ShipCompliant to confirm every order that should be checked actually was.
