Steps
Register a developer account on the Manheim API Developer Portal and obtain credentials for the REST Valuations API (the newer REST version replaces a legacy SOAP MMR service).
Request a valuation by VIN, by Manheim vehicle ID, or by year/make/model/trim, depending on what identifying data you have on hand.
Use the batch valuation call when pricing more than a handful of VINs at once, rather than looping single-VIN requests.
Pass a date parameter to retrieve a historical MMR value for a past point in time (supported back to November 2018) for trend analysis or dispute resolution.
For EVs, pass the evbh (EV battery health) parameter with a score between 75 and 100 to get a value adjusted for battery condition rather than a generic average.
Known gotchas
MMR pricing is refreshed nightly and reflects wholesale auction transactions, not retail asking prices — don't present it to consumers as a guaranteed trade-in value without adjustment.
API access requires an active Manheim/Cox Automotive commercial relationship; it is not an open self-serve signup.
The REST API is a relatively recent replacement for a legacy SOAP service — older integration guides and sample code you find may reference the deprecated SOAP endpoints.
