Steps
Create or use an existing MyUPRR.com customer user ID and password, a required prerequisite for API registration.
Go to Union Pacific's API Developer Center and register for an API Client ID through the registration UI linked from up.com/shipping/resources/api-developer.
Once UP authorizes the request, retrieve the API Client ID/password needed to authorize API requests.
Call the Shipment service (documented under the "Shipping Services" tag in UP's secure API docs) to get real-time shipment location and ETA.
Reference the Cases service to detect shipments flagged as off-course or needing attention.
Known gotchas
API registration is gated behind an existing/active MyUPRR.com account - you cannot register for API access without one.
Full endpoint reference documentation lives behind UP's authenticated secure portal, not the public marketing pages.
