Steps
Enable LAN Mode on the printer per the official Bambu Lab wiki, and note the printer's local IP and access code shown on its screen.
Connect to the printer's local MQTT broker on port 8883 using TLS with the printer's access code as credentials.
Subscribe to the printer's report topic to receive status/telemetry (temperatures, progress, AMS state) as JSON payloads.
Publish command payloads to the printer's request topic to trigger actions, following the community-documented message schema since Bambu Lab has not published an official protocol reference.
Use local FTPS (implicit TLS) to upload sliced 3MF/gcode files to the printer's storage ahead of starting a print via MQTT.
Known gotchas
UNOFFICIAL: this integration path is community-reverse-engineered (e.g. the OpenBambuAPI project) — Bambu Lab does not publish an official MQTT or FTP protocol spec, so message formats can change with firmware updates without notice.
Some firmware versions have tightened LAN-mode/authentication behavior, and workarounds (e.g. custom certificate handling to bypass restrictions) may conflict with the printer's terms of use — treat as unsupported and test carefully before production use.
Credentials (access code, certificates) are printer-specific and change if LAN mode is reset or regenerated on the device.
