3. Use a matching position statement to support a request for information (RFI) or clarification to the design team, rather than unilaterally deciding to follow the position statement over the project's actual contract documents.
4. Recognize that ASCC position statements represent industry-consensus best-practice guidance from a contractor association, not a building code or a substitute for the project's governing specifications or ACI/ASTM standards -- escalate through the RFI process rather than treating a position statement as automatically controlling.
5. Document which position statement was referenced and how the design team responded, for the project record.
