Pull MUTCD Part 3 marking dimensions and color conventions to use as a voluntary design reference when a private lot owner wants 'DOT-standard' striping even though the lot isn't legally required to follow MUTCD.

Steps
Fetch the mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov Part 3 PDF (freely public).
Extract Section 3A.04's current line-width definitions: a 'normal' line is 4 to 6 inches wide, and a 'wide' line is at least twice the width of the normal line used (not a fixed 6-or-8-inch category) — plus color assignments (white for same-direction/right-edge lines, yellow for opposite-direction/left-edge lines).
Extract standard pavement marking word/symbol dimensions for reference where relevant (e.g., stop bars, arrows).
Adapt the extracted conventions for the private lot's fire lanes, no-parking zones, and directional arrows.
Document in the proposal that these are used as a voluntary design reference, not a legal MUTCD-compliance claim.
Known gotchas
The 11th Edition defines 'wide' as a ratio (at least 2x the normal line width) rather than a flat dimension — a 4-inch normal line's wide companion is at least 8 inches, but a 6-inch normal line's wide companion must be at least 12 inches; don't assume a fixed 6/8-inch rule.
Using MUTCD-standard symbols/colors doesn't create a legal MUTCD-compliance obligation for a private lot, but it can create a customer expectation of code-level accuracy — scope this explicitly in the contract.
