Go to the Verify License page at nclocksmithboard.org/verify-license/
Follow the "Click to verify license by name" link, which routes to the Board's hosted public registry on Certemy (ncllb.certemy.com/public-registry/)
Search by the locksmith's name — the Board's instructions specifically say not to select anything in the Credential field, only type the name or partial name
Use the column-sort arrows in the results table to sort by name or other visible fields (county sorting is explicitly not yet supported)
As a fallback, download the Board's periodically-updated PDF list of all active licensed locksmiths if the interactive registry is unavailable
Known gotchas
The actual query tool is hosted off-domain on a third-party platform (Certemy, at ncllb.certemy.com), not directly on nclocksmithboard.org — bookmark the registry URL itself since the Board's site is just a landing page linking to it
The Board's own guidance warns that selecting a value in the Credential filter breaks the search — leave it blank and search by name only
The downloadable PDF list is a point-in-time snapshot (dated in its filename) and can lag behind the live registry, so treat it as a fallback rather than a primary source
