Steps

1. Confirm the structure's current design live load rating against original construction documents, if available, or have the structural engineer establish a rating based on as-built conditions if original documents are unavailable.
2. Check that any deterioration identified in the condition assessment (section loss, delamination, PT tendon issues) has been evaluated for its effect on the structure's original load rating, since deterioration can reduce effective capacity below the original design value.
3. Verify posted vehicle weight limit and vertical clearance signage at all entry points reflects the current engineer-confirmed rating, not just the original nameplate/design value, especially after any capacity-reducing repairs or deterioration findings.
4. Coordinate with facilities/property management to update signage promptly if the engineer issues a revised (typically reduced) load rating following the assessment.
5. Document the load-rating verification and any signage updates in the condition assessment report or a separate memo, since this becomes part of the owner's due-diligence record for both AHJ compliance and insurance purposes.
