Steps
Identify the 6-character Permanent Identifier (PID) for the mark, e.g. via the NGS Web Map at geodesy.noaa.gov/datasheets/ngs_map/.
Query the NGS Data Explorer / Datasheet web service documented at https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/web_services/data-explorer.shtml, passing one or more PIDs comma-delimited.
Alternatively run a bounding-box query in decimal degrees or DMS to pull all marks in a project area.
Parse the returned JSON for horizontal/vertical order, adjustment epoch, and 'to-reach' description before fieldwork.
Cross-check the mark's condition/recovery notes, since the datasheet API reflects the last submitted recovery report, not real-time field status.
Known gotchas
This is the NGS Datasheet/Data Explorer service — not the NOAA CORS Network (NCN) API, which serves a different dataset (continuously operating station RINEX/metadata), already covered elsewhere.
PIDs are case-insensitive but must be exact; a mistyped PID silently returns an empty result set rather than an error in some client wrappers.
