Steps
Create a conversion rule with POST /conversions specifying name, associated ad account URN, conversion method, and type
For each offline event (in-store purchase, phone call, demo), stream it to the /conversionEvents endpoint with the conversion rule URN, event timestamp, and available user identifiers (hashed email, LinkedIn click ID)
Keep event timestamps within the conversion rule's maximum lookback window (up to 90 days), since older events are not accepted
Use the manual CSV upload path in Campaign Manager instead of the direct API for low-volume, one-off batches
Monitor the conversion rule's reported volume in Campaign Manager to confirm events are being matched and attributed
Consider a LinkedIn Marketing Partner integration if you'd rather not build and maintain the direct API integration yourself
Known gotchas
Events older than the lookback window are silently dropped rather than erroring, so backfilling historical offline data beyond that window will not work
Matching depends entirely on the identifiers supplied — a thin identifier set (e.g. only an email, no click ID) yields low match rates
Direct Conversions API access requires the same partnership/approval gating as the rest of LinkedIn's Marketing API, not a separate lighter-weight path
