Steps
Review the Data Exchange Import API documentation at helpbeaconama.net/beacon-web-services to understand supported import record types (accounts, meters, service points)
Format the utility's billing/CIS export into the documented import schema
Submit the import via the documented API call, authenticating with BEACON admin HTTP Basic credentials
Check the API response for per-record success/failure status to catch rejected or malformed records
Run imports on a scheduled sync cadence to keep BEACON's customer/meter records aligned with the utility's system of record
Known gotchas
This is a one-way import into BEACON; conflicting edits made directly in BEACON can be overwritten on the next import
Malformed records are typically rejected per-record rather than failing the whole batch, so response parsing must check individual record status
Like the Export API, this uses HTTP Basic auth with a dedicated BEACON service account, not OAuth
