Retrieve historical WSPR spot data from WSPRnet's public archives

Steps

  1. For bulk historical analysis, download the monthly CSV archive files listed on the WSPRnet downloads page; each file covers one calendar month of spots and requires no authentication.
  2. For scripted, filtered queries against essentially the same dataset, use the community-run wspr.live HTTP interface, which accepts SQL-style filters as GET/POST parameters with no authentication required.
  3. Respect wspr.live's stated fair-use limits: roughly 100,000 rows per query, dropping to 10,000 rows after a daily volume threshold, with a mandatory cooldown of a few seconds between requests.
  4. Parse returned rows for reporter and spotted callsigns, frequency, SNR, drift, transmit power, and timestamp fields as documented on the respective download/interface pages.
  5. For access to WSPRnet's own official near-real-time API, rather than the monthly archive or the wspr.live mirror, contact the WSPRnet database custodian directly, since that interface is not self-service.
