Steps
Have a UKG Pro system administrator create a dedicated Web Service Account (separate from any human user login)
Retrieve the account's username, password, and unique API key issued for that web service account
Construct the SOAP request for the New Hire (or Employee HR Data) service, passing Basic Authentication credentials plus the API key as required by the service
Submit the SOAP envelope to the appropriate UKG Pro Web Services endpoint for your tenant
Parse the SOAP response/fault for per-field validation errors before treating the hire as committed
Known gotchas
A Web Service Account must be explicitly provisioned by a UKG Pro admin — it cannot be created via self-service developer signup
SOAP web services and the newer REST API v2 are separate systems with separate credentials; a Web Service Account for SOAP does not automatically work against REST v2
