If automated, per-transaction TARIC measure lookups are required, evaluate a licensed EU customs data vendor or the Access2Markets trade helpdesk tools as a supplement to the raw bulk data.
Re-check TARIC data regularly since the underlying database is updated daily to reflect new EU trade and agricultural legislation, and cached lookups can go stale quickly.

Known gotchas

There is no confirmed official free REST API for real-time TARIC queries in current public docs — plan for manual consultation-tool lookups or periodic bulk-file ingestion, not live API calls, when scoping an integration.
TARIC changes daily as new EU legislation (anti-dumping duties, quotas, trade agreement updates) is incorporated, so bulk downloads need a refresh cadence matched to your compliance risk tolerance.
Don't confuse TARIC (the EU's integrated tariff covering all EU-level measures) with individual member states' national customs systems, which can layer additional national requirements on top.
