Steps
From mass.gov's Board of Elevator Regulations / Office of Public Safety and Inspections pages, find the link to the IPS Public Portal
Choose to search by State ID (the elevator's 'P#') or by location address
Select 'Elevator' as the equipment area and run the search
Select the specific device from the results and click 'Get Details' for full inspection/permit information
Known gotchas
The IPS Public Portal is separate from the IPS Customer Portal (used by contractors/owners to file applications); use the Customer Portal if you need to submit filings, not just look up status
Mass.gov's archived 'Elevator Certificate expiration dates' XLSX files are stale (not updated recently); rely on the live IPS Public Portal search for current status, not those downloads
