Steps
Search the inspector by name/license number on DBPR's Licensing Portal (myfloridalicense.com/portalsearches/VerifyLicensee)
Separately check the building's Certificate of Operation status — per Fla. Admin. Code R. 61C-5.006(3), certificates of operation expire annually on July 31 at 11:59 p.m., and renewal applications/fees not postmarked or received before August 1 are deemed delinquent
If the certificate appears delinquent, check the Bureau's periodically-updated 'List of Elevators with Delinquent Licenses and Outstanding Requirements' PDF (published under the Bureau's licensing page) by license number, since owner-name search can be less reliable
Note that any violations cited on a routine inspection must be corrected within the Bureau's stated correction window and verified by a callback inspection before renewal completes
For anything unresolved, contact the Bureau of Elevator Safety's Customer Contact Center directly rather than assuming the online record is exhaustive
Known gotchas
Certificates of operation expire on the same fixed calendar date for everyone (July 31 at 11:59 p.m.), not an individual anniversary date — August 1 is when a late renewal becomes delinquent and triggers a late fee, it is not the expiration date itself
The delinquent-license list is a periodically-refreshed PDF, not a live queryable database — search it by license number for accuracy over name/address
A failed routine inspection or unpaid fees are the two things that block renewal; a 'delinquent' status doesn't by itself mean the inspection failed — check which condition applies
