Steps

  1. Log in at public.railinc.com via Customer Login (SSO) to reach the AAR Embargo/OPSL Notes and Permit System.
  2. From the menu, select Embargoes > Search Embargoes to look up active embargoes by railroad, station, or commodity.
  3. Select OPSL Notes > Search OPSL Notes to check Open & Prepaid Station List restrictions, which behave like embargoes but can remain valid longer than one year.
  4. To request a permit into an embargoed destination, follow the system's "Request a Permit" workflow.
  5. Use the EDI 824 viewer to interpret acknowledgment/error codes if embargo or permit transactions are exchanged via EDI.
