Register with TransUnion Client Technical Services and obtain a Partner ID, Location ID, and software vendor credentials from the onboarding team
Review the TUXML specification documents available in the TransUnion Doc Repository (techservices.transunion.com/doc-repository) for your product tier
Construct a TUXML-formatted XML inquiry message containing the subject's identifying information and the product/add-on codes for the report type you need
Submit the XML inquiry over the TransUnion-approved transport channel (HTTPS POST to the TransUnion integration endpoint provided in your onboarding docs)
Parse the XML response to extract tradeline segments, score segments, and any alert or fraud indicator blocks
Test against the TransUnion sandbox using the TUXML code sample library before promoting to production
Known gotchas
TransUnion's primary integration channel uses an XML-based TUXML format rather than a JSON REST API; plan for XML serialization/deserialization in your integration layer
Credentialing is done per inquiry origination point: the Location ID in the request header must match the provisioned location, or inquiries are rejected
Score model codes vary by product tier and contract; requesting a score model not provisioned on your account returns an error rather than an empty field
