Steps

  1. Access the Ford Pro Telematics API through the Ford Developer Marketplace (developer.ford.com); API access requires enrollment of vehicles in Ford Pro Telematics through the fleet portal at fcsfleet.ford.com.
  2. Authenticate using OAuth 2.0 to obtain an access token; pass the token as a Bearer token in subsequent API requests.
  3. Call the Vehicle Metadata endpoint to retrieve the list of fleet-enrolled vehicles along with VIN, make, model, year, and vehicle name.
  4. Call the Vehicle Historical Status endpoint to retrieve past location and vehicle status for one or more vehicles; specify a time range and choose signals such as location, heading, odometer, ignition_status, fuel_level, and key EV battery signals.
  5. For near-real-time status, poll the Vehicle Status endpoint to get the current state of each vehicle.
  6. Parse paginated responses; the API supports up to one year of historical lookback per request.
