Confirm your platform and each connected account meet eligibility requirements: full Terms of Service onboarding, supported country, and payout to a supported debit card or bank account in local currency.
Call POST /v1/payouts with method=instant on behalf of the connected account using the Stripe-Account header; set the amount in the smallest currency unit.
Understand that Stripe enforces a platform-level daily dollar-volume cap shared across all connected accounts on your platform — not a per-connected-account count cap; monitor remaining allowance via the Dashboard or Instant Payouts for Connect API docs.
Note that the 10-instant-payouts-per-day count limit applies only to non-Connect Stripe Dashboard users; Connect platforms operate under a dollar-volume ceiling set by Stripe for the platform as a whole.
Set up the treasury.received_credit webhook on connected accounts to confirm funds settled, and handle payout.failed events to surface errors to connected account holders.
If your platform is volume-capped, contact Stripe to request a limit increase and implement backoff UX that falls back to standard payouts when the cap is reached.
Known gotchas
The 10/day count cap is a non-Connect Dashboard limit — Connect platforms have a platform-level dollar-volume cap instead; conflating them leads to incorrect user-facing error messages.
Stripe charges the platform a fee (check current pricing on stripe.com/connect/pricing as the percentage may change) on each instant payout initiated for connected accounts; this is deducted from the platform balance, not the connected account.
Connected accounts cannot initiate instant payouts after the platform's daily dollar cap is exhausted; always surface a clear degraded-mode fallback to standard payout timing.
