Steps

  1. Register a free HamAlert account and define one or more triggers on the Triggers page, specifying conditions such as callsign, DXCC, mode, band, or spot source (RBN, PSK Reporter, DX cluster, SOTA/POTA feeds).
  2. Enable the 'Telnet' action on each trigger you want delivered to a telnet client.
  3. On the Destinations page, note your personal HamAlert telnet endpoint and credentials, then connect a cluster-monitoring or logging client to that interface the same way you would to a standard DX cluster.
  4. Alternatively, enable a URL-notification action on a trigger to have HamAlert POST the alert as JSON to your own HTTP endpoint whenever it fires.
  5. Tune trigger conditions to stay well under HamAlert's automatic-disable threshold, since triggers matching more than roughly 10,000 spots per day are auto-disabled as too broad.
