Steps Authenticate using OAuth 2.0 (JWT grant for server apps, or authorization code grant for user-facing apps) with an integration key. Create an envelope containing the lease document and define the signer(s) and signing order. Monitor envelope status via Connect webhooks or by polling the envelope status endpoint. Once completed, download the Certificate of Completion document for a human-readable signing summary. Call the envelope's audit events endpoint to retrieve a structured, timestamped audit trail for compliance records.
Known gotchas The Certificate of Completion and the structured audit-events data are separate outputs — pull both if you need machine-readable records. Sandbox/demo accounts use separate credentials from production, so plan for a distinct go-live step. OAuth setup, especially JWT-grant consent, must be completed once per integration before unattended sending works.
