Steps
In Events Manager, choose 'Set up with Conversions API Gateway' (requires Business Manager Admin access) and select AWS as the hosting account — currently the only supported cloud provider.
Launch the provided CloudFormation stack into your own AWS account; it provisions Docker containers on EKS and takes roughly 30-40 minutes.
Retrieve the CapigSetupURL from the CloudFormation outputs and finish configuration in the gateway's admin UI.
Point a first-party subdomain (must share the same eTLD+1 as your site) at the gateway via two new DNS records and wait for TLS validation to go green.
Update your pixel/CAPI integration to send events to the new first-party endpoint instead of directly to Meta's domain.
Deploy at least two gateway instances (each rated ~100 QPS) for minimum production capacity.
Known gotchas
This isn't literally software you self-host anywhere — it's a Meta-provided AWS CloudFormation stack deployed inside your own AWS account, and AWS is currently the only supported provider.
Until the custom domain's DNS/TLS validation completes, traffic is still served from a default AWS CloudFront domain, defeating the point of a first-party endpoint.
Browser autofill on the CloudFormation 'Provisioning Data' field is a documented failure mode; stale autofilled values silently break the install.
