Steps
Have an Eiger organization admin generate an API key (Access Key + Secret Key) from the API keys management page — only admins can do this.
Authenticate requests using the Access Key as username and Secret Key as password per the Eiger API spec.
Use the RESTful resource endpoints documented via the OpenAPI spec at eiger.io/developer/spec to list printers, materials, and manage parts.
Submit and monitor print jobs through the documented job resource endpoints.
Reference the provided example Python command-line utilities as a starting template for common flows like uploading a part and starting a print.
Known gotchas
Only an Eiger organization admin can generate API keys — regular users cannot self-serve credentials.
The API is scoped to Markforged's own Eiger cloud slicer/fleet system and does not apply to third-party printers.
Because docs are OpenAPI-spec-generated, some operational nuance (rate limits, error semantics) is easier to find in the example code than in the raw spec.
