Steps Create a Canopy Connect account and generate a client_id/client_secret pair per the API key setup guide. Choose an integration surface: the hosted SDK widget, customizable Components, or a full App integration acting on behalf of other Canopy users. Have the consumer connect their insurance carrier login through the chosen flow to authorize the data pull. Register a webhook endpoint to receive real-time pull-completed notifications instead of polling. Call the Pulls API (e.g., get-pull-by-id) once the pull finishes to retrieve structured coverage, limit, deductible, and premium fields.
Known gotchas All API traffic requires TLS 1.2 or higher — plain HTTP or older TLS versions are rejected. The consumer connect flow depends on the target carrier supporting credential-based retrieval; coverage varies by carrier and line of business. Sandbox and production client_id/client_secret pairs are separate — verify which environment a given key belongs to before going live.
