Steps
Check each manufacturer's site (Boss, Fisher, Western, SnowEx — all Douglas Dynamics brands) for developer/API documentation — none publish one.
Note that Western HTS+, Fisher Fleet Flex, and Boss SmartTouch 2 do offer telematics integration, but only through the manufacturer's authorized-dealer channel, not an open API.
If you need controller/plow-state data in your own software, engage your equipment dealer to discuss a data-sharing arrangement rather than searching for public API docs.
For fleet-level location/status instead of plow-controller-specific telemetry, use a third-party AVL platform (e.g., ClearPathGPS, or an aftermarket AEMP-compliant system) layered on top of the trucks.
Re-verify before committing to a build — plow OEMs periodically announce new 'smart' controller generations, so a currently closed integration could open later.
Known gotchas
Aftermarket 'smart' plow controls and wireless remotes exist as products, but these are consumer convenience features, not a data/API layer for third-party developers.
Dealer-mediated data sharing is a business arrangement, not a documented technical integration — expect custom scoping/negotiation, not a standard onboarding flow.
