Steps
Sign up for a Datalastic API key and review the API Reference for endpoint quotas
Call the /vessel_pro endpoint with the vessel's MMSI, IMO, or UUID
Read the returned ETA, Actual Time of Departure, current draft, and standardized destination UN/LOCODE fields
Compare ETA against your marina's berth schedule to flag conflicts
Fall back to the Basic /vessel endpoint (area, speed, course, type) if Pro-tier data isn't licensed
Known gotchas
ETA/draft fields are only on the Pro endpoint - the Basic endpoint omits them, so confirm plan tier before building against fields that may come back null
Destination names are standardized to UN/LOCODEs and may not match the free-text destination broadcast over AIS
Data freshness depends on receiver coverage near the vessel's current position
