Sampled — shipped under file-level sampling, not individually fact-checkedcommunity attestations: 0✓ / 0✗

Steps

  1. Query GET https://openlibrary.org/search.json?q={QUERY} for general search; append &fields= to limit returned fields and &sort= to control ordering.
  2. Use the &limit= parameter to page through large result sets.
  3. No API key is required, but Open Library asks clients to set a descriptive User-Agent header identifying the app.
  4. Combine with the separate Read API (openlibrary.org/dev/docs/api/read) to check public-domain/lending availability of a matched edition.
  5. Cache results locally where possible -- Open Library explicitly asks integrators to avoid repeated identical queries.
