Convert survey coordinates between datums, reference frames, and coordinate systems (geographic, SPC, UTM, XYZ, USNG) using the NGS NCAT web service API

Sampled — shipped under file-level sampling, not individually fact-checkedcommunity attestations: 0✓ / 0✗
Steps
Pick the target conversion type: lat-long-height, SPC, UTM, XYZ, or USNG service, each with its own endpoint under geodesy.noaa.gov/web_services/ncat/
Fetch geodesy.noaa.gov/api/ncat/meta to confirm current valid parameter names/values for reference frames and regions
Submit a GET request with source coordinates plus source and target reference frame/region to the relevant NCAT service endpoint
Parse the JSON response for transformed coordinates and the NADCON5/VERTCON3 local uncertainty estimates
If converting height types, note NCAT only transforms orthometric-to-orthometric or ellipsoidal-to-ellipsoidal, never between height types directly
Known gotchas
NADCON5/VERTCON3 reject transformations outside supported regions (CONUS/AK/HI/PRVI/AS/Guam-CNMI) — out-of-bounds requests error rather than extrapolate
Five separate endpoints exist for the five coordinate types; using the wrong one for your input format fails or returns malformed results
No ellipsoidal-to-orthometric height conversion is performed here; use the Geoid Height API separately for that step
